This is a lengthy introduction to JAYNEEZIE.COM!

When I was a little girl, I got a really awesome Twirling Ballerina Barbie doll for Christmas. At the time, though, I didn’t think it was really awesome because what I really wanted that Christmas was Teacher Barbie – mostly because she had a chalkboard, a Miss Frizzle-esque dress, and her set came complete with two students and their desks.

Being a greedy, ungrateful 7-year-old, my mouth slowly grew into a forced, fake smile as I said thank you to the auntie who gave it to me. In my mind, though, I thought, “But Teacher Barbie’s box is waaaaaay bigger than Twirling Ballerina Barbie’s. Why didn’t I get that instead?!”

To be completely honest, though, I wasn’t always a huge fan of Barbie. I was just really fascinated by the fact that she was constantly changing careers. It never really occurred to me why I was so intrigued, at least not until I was older. My exact words were,

“That bitch does everything! That’s what I wanna do! wanna do everything, too!”

Like, seriously. That woman did anything and everything you could think of. She also had cute outfits that matched each job description. This lady wasn’t playing, y’all. And I wanted to be on her level. I wanted to try anything and everything she did.

22 years later, I decided to do just that. It took nearly the entire decade of my 20’s to figure out that, “Hey! I like what I’m doing now…but what if I could do what I actually love doing?”

And what do I actually love doing, you might be asking yourself? Well, I’ll get to that in a second. First, let me formally introduce myself to you.

Hi! I’m Janell, aka Jayneezie of this blog you’re reading. I’m blogging to you all the way from Honolulu, Hawaii – my beautiful hometown. I’ve pretty much lived here my entire life, even stayed here for college. Yup, this rock is my home and I haven’t left it. Well, except for the 2 and half years I was out in South Korea, doing my thing as a Native-speaking English teacher.

I’m back home now, enjoying the island life but wanting more from it. Let me tell you – after living in a city with a 빨리빠리 (“Hurry! Hurry!”) mindset to going back home to the laidback lifestyle…it gets boring. For I am a restless creature. It’s part of the reason you’re reading this post now!

Since returning home, I’ve been working as a part-time teacher for the most part. But I’ve had experiences as in tutoring, customer service, and even a little dabble in wedding planning. I haven’t done as much as Barbie has – and let’s face it, I probably won’t ever be able to. But it’s all good. I’m fine with that, for she is a fictional being while I am a mere mortal just trying to get by with a teaching job and a blog.

This isn’t the first blog I’ve started, bee tee dubs. I started one back in college to write about (read: vent about) my college life, which didn’t pan out too well. I was straight up too lazy to write it (hope you enjoy that honesty!). But then, I transformed that blog to what is now called, Janell Got Seoul

I used that blog to update my family and friends back home about my life in Korea, as well as to show what Seoul had to offer. Again, that blog died after six months, but it had a good run. Most recently, I started another blog, Jayneezie Writes, one that I started shortly after a breakup. Again, it didn’t get too far. Don’t read it. Seriously, don’t. I only have one or two posts up. I might just delete it, honestly. Haha.

But please be assured that will not meet that same fate. I am dedicated to writing about my passions in life: fitness, faith, teaching, sharing new experiences, and spreading positivity and joy through entertainment. I created different sections on the site to highlight these passion:

  • Jayneezie Lives! – Posts about my life and what I’ve done, as well as reviews of products and other things
  • Jayneezie Fit – My fitness section. Yay!
  • Jayneezie Teaches – Teacher resources galore!

I would also love to share my ideas and thoughts on different aspects of my life, such as dating and handling finances, as well as managing my different work roles. I’d also love to share my opinions on beauty products, cooking recipes, makeup tutorials, movies, etc. And being that I’m in Hawaii, I want to share my life here on the Islands with you and show you around.

Basically, I would like to invite you into my life and mind, hoping to give you a second opinion on whatever you’re contemplating. Think of my blog as a friend you can turn to when you’re not sure whether or not to buy that new Korean face mask people have been raving about, or if you’re unsure if the workout that you found on Pinterest is going to kill you or not.

In sharing these parts of my life and thoughts with all of you, I want to achieve the following goals:

  • Give an honest opinion and review of the products, services, and programs chosen to share with you
  • Show you my slice of Hawaii (Jayneezie Lives!)
  • Provide teaching resources and insights, as well as some stories from Korea (Jayneezie Teaches
  • Show you my real-time fitness progress and try out some programs/workouts you might be interested in but not how to go about it (Jayneezie Fit)
  • Be a multi-faceted blog with different focuses

Remember how I wanted to be Barbie, with her million careers? This is how I want to do it and share that passion with you. Eventually, I’d like to expand and try other tasks, but I’m going to take it one day at a time.

My hope is that is a platform for anyone who is as unsure about things as I am. I want to reach out to anyone and everyone looking for an Average Janell who isn’t an influencer or a YouTube star about certain things.

I hope I can reach out to you, the millennial who isn’t sure how to start “adulting”. I hope you can see my struggle and realize that even if you’re in your early 20’s or starting out your 30’s like me, that the struggle is real, but there are other people out there who are riding the Struggle Bus with ya.

I’m writing this to you, college student ready to graduate, but unsure where to go from here. I’d like to share with you what I did in my “I don’t know what to do” period – which was teaching abroad.

I wanna share my thoughts with you who might be wondering how to lose weight if you haven’t had a lot of experience at the gym. I’ll show you how I started off and how I modified routines when things got tough.

Basically, is my love letter, my labor of love that I want to share with people who might be struggling and are looking for a release from that struggle. Whether it be looking for advice on life, looking for reviews on things before you try them, or just to have reading material to distract you from stress, I want to be there for you.

With that said, I hope you enjoy your visits to
